4 recalls across 2 model years
The Volvo WAH has 4 recalls covering the 1997–1999 model years, with the most serious being a brake manifold check valve on 1997 models that can become brittle and crack, leaving the driver with no service braking if either the primary or secondary air circuit fails.
Two steering recalls affect 1999 models. The tie rod ball stud on the right steer axle can separate from its socket due to premature wear, eliminating steering control to that axle. A separate issue on the same year involves drag link ball sockets that wear prematurely and can also cause a loss of steering control. The 1999 model year also has a trailer wiring issue where the anti-lock brake signal wire in the junction box at the rear of the frame may not carry power to a connected trailer's ABS system, allowing the trailer wheels to lock and skid under hard braking.
