The 2007 Volvo XC90 has 4 recalls, the most serious involving two separate fire risks: a portable Garmin GPS unit whose battery can overheat and ignite, and an engine compartment cooling fan control unit that can corrode and short-circuit, also potentially starting a fire.
The remaining two recalls describe the same underlying visibility issue and can be treated as one concern. Under certain conditions, the climate control module stops responding after the ignition key is inserted, shutting down all climate functions for that drive cycle. When this happens, the defroster does not work, which can leave the windshield fogged or iced over and significantly reduce the driver's ability to see the road ahead.
