The 2018 Bugatti Chiron has 5 recalls, the most serious involving side airbags that may not deploy with full force in a side-impact crash, and front seat recliners whose brackets may not be properly welded, allowing the seatback to shift unexpectedly while driving.
A structural concern also affects certain vehicles where a screw fastening the front frame support may be loose, which can reduce the protection the frame provides to occupants in a crash. On the electronics side, the electronic stability control system does not automatically return to its normal operating mode after the engine is restarted when the handling mode has been selected, meaning the system remains in a reduced-intervention sport mode without the driver's knowledge. There is also a seatbelt reminder issue: the audible chime that alerts the driver when they start the car without buckling their seatbelt may not sound, leaving the driver without a warning that the belt is unfastened.
