The 2006 Buick Rainier has 3 recalls, all centered on the same fire risk: the driver's door master power window switch can corrode internally and short circuit, potentially starting a fire even when the vehicle is parked and unattended. Fluid can work its way into the switch module, triggering corrosion on the circuit board. Beyond the fire risk, this short can also cause the power windows to stop responding or move on their own without any input from the driver. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue, which is why multiple recall campaigns address the same underlying defect.
