The 2020 Cadillac CT5 has 4 recalls, the most serious involving the 10-speed automatic transmission, which can suffer internal damage and cause the wheels to lock up without warning while driving.
Two other recalls affect safety systems in a crash. The roof rail side-curtain airbags may have been installed incorrectly, meaning they can fail to deploy properly or deploy in an unintended direction during a collision, reducing protection for occupants. On the braking side, contamination in the electronic brake boost system can cut communication between the sensor and the booster, causing the system to lose its power-assist. When that happens, the brake pedal becomes significantly harder to press and the vehicle requires much more stopping distance, raising the risk of a crash. There is also a lighting issue: the daytime running lights may fail to switch off when the headlights are turned on, creating glare for oncoming drivers and reducing overall visibility at night.
