The 2010 Cadillac Escalade ESV has 3 recalls, all involving the passenger-side front airbag inflator, which can rupture and send sharp metal fragments into the cabin, potentially causing serious injury or death.

All three recalls cover the same underlying defect in the passenger-side frontal airbag inflator module. When the airbag deploys, the inflator can explode with more force than intended, breaking apart and scattering metal fragments toward anyone seated in the front passenger seat or nearby. This type of defect is particularly dangerous because the airbag is meant to protect occupants in a crash, but a ruptured inflator turns a safety device into a hazard at the exact moment it fires. The recalls appear to be scoped to vehicles originally sold or registered in high-humidity regions, including several southern U.S. states, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and certain U.S. territories, where prolonged moisture exposure can degrade the inflator over time.
