The 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ has 9 recalls, the most serious involving braking failures: a software fault can cause the anti-lock braking system to activate unexpectedly or stop working entirely, potentially leaving the driver with severely reduced or no braking ability.
A separate structural concern involves the front stabilizer bar bracket bolts, which can loosen and fall away from the frame, potentially damaging high-voltage cables or battery coolant lines and cutting drive power. High-voltage battery connections can also be out of position internally, which can cause a sudden loss of drive power on their own. Note that the unexpected ABS activation issue only affects all-wheel drive models.
On the occupant safety side, the brackets anchoring the left-rear and center-rear seatbelts may not be properly welded to the seat frame, which means those belts might not hold an occupant in a crash.
Two electrical clusters round out the list. The instrument panel display can go blank while driving, hiding the speedometer, warning lights, and rearview camera image. The body control module may also have been loaded with miscalibrated software that silences the low-speed pedestrian warning sound, leaving people on foot unaware the vehicle is approaching.
