The 2014 Cadillac XTS has 4 recalls, the most serious involving a brake booster pump connector that can corrode, create a resistive short, and melt surrounding components, raising the risk of a fire under the hood.
A separate steering concern involves bolts on the steering gear shaft connection and front lower control arm ball joints that may not have been tightened to specification; if they loosen, the driver can lose steering control. On the safety equipment side, certain vehicles may have left the factory with the airbag control module set to a manufacturing mode that prevents the airbags from deploying in a crash. There is also a brake light issue where the rear brake lamps can flash when the vehicle is not actually slowing, which may cause a following driver to discount the lights when the brakes are genuinely applied, reducing their reaction time.
