14 recalls across 8 model years
The Chevrolet Blazer has 14 recalls spanning 2019 through 2026, with the most serious recent issue being a fractured right front lower control arm on 2024 Blazer EV models that can cause sudden loss of steering and vehicle control.
The 2024 and 2025 Blazer EV also has a rear parking brake wiring harness that can corrode or sustain damage, either triggering the parking brake unexpectedly while driving or leaving the vehicle without a functioning parking brake when parked. An earlier repair attempt for this issue did not fully resolve the problem on some vehicles. On 2024 Blazer EV models, the rear electric drive unit has wiring that can short against itself and cut drive power without warning. Door strikers on 2024 models can fracture and let a door swing open while driving, and the same issue carries into 2025 models. The 2026 Blazer EV is subject to a compliance recall for a missing owner's manual.
The 2023 model year has two drivetrain issues: the left-side half-shaft can be missing a retaining ring and separate from its inner joint, causing loss of drive power or rollaway when parked, and a separately built transmission may contain an incorrect sun gear that allows the driver-side half-shaft to disengage, with the same rollaway and loss-of-power risk.
Going back to 2022, the driver's seat cushion frame can have a faulty weld in the power tilt mechanism that may not hold the driver in place in a crash. On 2021 models, incorrect bolts may have been used to anchor the seatbelts to the vehicle structure, which can allow the belt to pull free in a crash. The 2020 model year has a curtain airbag inflator whose diffuser component can separate during deployment, reducing the airbag's ability to protect occupants. On 2019 and 2020 models, the automatic transmission's start-stop accumulator can be missing bolts on its endcap, leading to a transmission fluid leak and potential loss of propulsion. The 2019 and 2020 model years are also included in a tire recall where over-cured Continental tires can develop sidewall cracks or lose tread suddenly.
