14 recalls across 13 model years
The Chevrolet Camaro has 14 recalls spanning the 2010–2022 model years, with the most serious recent issue being a 10-speed automatic transmission defect on 2020–2022 models where internal damage can cause the wheels to lock up without warning while driving.
On 2020 models, a fuel pump missing a pressure regulator can allow the fuel system to over-pressurize, crack the pump, and leak fuel, raising the risk of a fire near any ignition source. The 2021 model year has a separate issue where either axle shaft may be missing a retaining ring, allowing it to pull free while driving and causing a sudden loss of drive power. Also on 2021 models, seatbelt anchor bolts may be incorrect, meaning the belt may not hold an occupant in a crash.
The 2017–2021 model years have a steering wheel emblem issue where the plastic "Camaro" badge on the airbag cover can break loose during driver airbag deployment and send plastic fragments toward the driver. The 2017–2018 models have an electric power steering system that can lose its assist, making the wheel noticeably harder to turn, particularly at low speeds. The 2015 model year has a side airbag inflator that can rupture during deployment rather than inflate properly, potentially sending metal fragments into the cabin.
Going back further, the 2013 model has a driver-side frontal airbag inflator that can explode on deployment and scatter sharp metal fragments toward the driver and passengers. The 2012 model has a separate frontal airbag issue where an electrical contact fault can prevent the driver airbag from deploying at all in a crash. The 2010–2014 models share a key-cylinder issue where a driver's knee can nudge the ignition key out of the run position, shutting off the engine and disabling the airbags.
The 2010–2012 models with power-adjustable seats can have the driver's seat drop unexpectedly, altering seating position and distracting the driver. The 2016 model has a software issue where the radio may fail to chime when the key is left in the ignition or the seatbelt is not fastened. The 2013–2014 coupe models built within a specific production window have an airbag warning label on the sun visor that can peel off.
