Summary
The Chevrolet Colorado has 13 recalls spanning 2010 through 2025, with the most serious recent issue affecting 2024 models where an improperly secured fuel pump lock ring can leak fuel in a crash and raise the risk of a fire.
The 2024 model year also has a recall for incorrect tires that were installed at the factory and do not match the tire label, which can cause the tire pressure monitoring system to give inaccurate readings and fail to warn of low pressure. On 2023-2024 models, front seat belt buckle attachment bolts may not have been tightened properly, meaning the belt can fail to hold an occupant in a crash. The 2023 model year has two additional concerns: front wheel hub bolts that were over-tightened during assembly can loosen or break and cause loss of control, and the front camera module can falsely detect an obstacle and trigger the automatic emergency braking unexpectedly, causing the vehicle to stop abruptly. The 2025 model year has a compliance recall for a missing owner's manual.
Going back to the 2015-2016 generation, there are three separate driver airbag recalls. On 2015 models, wiring in the driver airbag circuit may have been connected incorrectly, disrupting the deployment sequence in a crash. A separate 2015 recall involves a misaligned airbag inflator that can separate from its mounting plate during deployment and send steering wheel components into the cabin. Both 2015 and 2016 models have an additional airbag issue where the second-stage inflation in a high-speed crash can behave incorrectly, reducing protection. The 2015 model year also has an electric power steering recall where a poor electrical connection inside the steering gear can cause the assist to cut out, making the wheel harder to turn, particularly at low speeds.
On 2011 models, the gear position indicator can malfunction in a way that prevents the engine from restarting and allows the vehicle to roll away when occupants are exiting. A separate 2011 recall covers windshield wiper motor fasteners that may not have been tightened properly, which can cause the wipers to stop functioning and reduce visibility in wet conditions. The 2010-2012 model years have a hood latch recall where the secondary latch may be missing entirely, meaning if the primary latch fails, the hood can fly open and block the driver's view.
