The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado has 3 recalls, the most serious being two crash risks: the automatic emergency braking system can trigger without an actual obstacle and abruptly slow or stop the truck, and front wheel hub bolts may loosen or break and cause loss of vehicle control.
The automatic emergency braking issue stems from the front camera module falsely detecting an obstacle that isn't there, bringing the truck to a sudden halt at highway or city speeds and leaving following traffic with little warning. On the wheel side, the hub bolts holding the front wheels may have been over-torqued during assembly, which can crack or weaken them until they loosen or snap, potentially allowing a front wheel to shift or detach. The third recall involves the front seatbelt buckle attachment bolts, which may not have been tightened properly during manufacturing. A buckle that isn't firmly secured can shift or release in a crash, preventing the belt from holding the occupant in place and raising the risk of injury.
