The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has 6 recalls, the most serious being rear wheel lockup from a failing transmission control valve on diesel-equipped trucks, and engine failure on trucks with the 6.2L V8 gas engine due to defective internal components.
Note that some trucks that received a prior repair for the transmission valve issue may not have been fixed correctly, leaving the lockup risk unresolved. On the safety equipment side, certain vehicles left the factory with the airbag control module stuck in manufacturing mode, meaning the airbags will not deploy in a crash. Two lighting recalls round out the list: trucks fitted with an accessory sport bar may have a non-functional high-mounted brake light that also blocks the factory brake light, reducing visibility to drivers behind you, and a software issue can cause the daytime running lights to stay on when the headlights are active, creating glare for oncoming traffic.
