The 2007 Dodge Avenger has 6 recalls, the most serious being electrical faults that can cause the engine to stall without warning or, on vehicles with 2.4-liter engines, ignite a fire in the engine compartment. The stalling risk traces to corroded unused wiring connectors tied to the tire pressure monitoring system, which can short circuit and also cause a dead battery, failed cruise control, or a no-start condition. Separately, on 2.4-liter models, coolant can be drawn into the left radiator cooling fan motor connector, creating an electrical short that can start an engine compartment fire. The remaining recalls all concern the front door latch: the latch cable can slip partially out of the interior release handle housing, leaving the door stuck in the unlatched position or the lock inoperative. In a crash, an unlatched front door can swing open and eject an unbelted occupant.
