5/5 Overall
NHTSA 5-Star Safety Rating
The dominant complaint pattern for the 2019 Dodge Charger centers on the airbag system, which accounts for a large share of reported issues. Owners frequently describe concerns about airbag deployment reliability, often tied to interior door panel warping and separation, the plastic trim near the window sill lifts away from the door frame, and owners worry the distortion could interfere with side airbag deployment. The electrical system draws the next cluster of complaints, with owners reporting various electrical malfunctions, while exterior lighting rounds out the third-most-reported area: multiple owners describe headlights failing to activate or staying inoperative even after bulb replacement, suggesting the issue lies beyond the bulb itself. A smaller number of owners also report a fuel tank filler neck crack that allows fuel vapors to escape around the vehicle.

With Injuries
By System
The 2019 Dodge Charger has 7 recalls, the most serious involving side curtain airbag inflators that can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, potentially causing serious injury or death.
On the brake and suspension side, an incompatible front wheel and brake package on certain vehicles can allow the tire to contact the steering knuckle, damaging the tire and risking a sudden blowout. Two recalls cover the instrument cluster: on some vehicles it may fail to illuminate warning lights at all, and on others it may go completely dark, leaving the driver without any information about the vehicle's systems. The backup camera is also affected, but only on Charger Pursuit models equipped with stealth mode, where selecting that mode prevents the rearview image from appearing when the vehicle is in reverse. Finally, some vehicles are missing the required airbag warning labels on the sun visors, which means occupants may not have the safety information needed before a crash.
