The 1988 Dodge Mini Ram Van has two recalls, both involving fuel tank defects that can allow fuel to leak and, if an ignition source is present, cause an underbody fire. One issue involves the fuel tank's date code stamp, which may have created a puncture or an extremely thin spot in the metal, allowing fuel to seep out. The other involves the seam where the upper and lower halves of the fuel tank are joined, which may not have welded properly and can also leak fuel. Both conditions carry the same risk: fuel escaping beneath the vehicle where it can ignite.
