Dodge Sprinter Recalls

The Dodge Sprinter has 10 recalls spanning the 2003-2009 production run, with the most serious being a driver and passenger frontal airbag inflator defect on 2007 models where excessive pressure during deployment can rupture the inflator and send fragments into the cabin, or prevent the airbag from deploying at all. The 2007 model year also has a side window airbag recall where hairline cracks in the module diffuser can prevent the curtain airbag from deploying in a side impact, reducing protection for front seat occupants. Two separate recalls on 2006 and 2007 Sprinters equipped with Ricon platform wheelchair lifts cover an anti-stow interlock that may not detect a wheelchair user on the platform, allowing the lift to move or stow unexpectedly and injure the occupant. On 2004 models equipped with 16-inch tires, the rubber and metal portions of the valve stem can separate or crack under hot conditions, causing rapid air loss and sudden loss of directional control. Going back to 2003, certain vehicles with anti-lock brakes but without electronic stability control may not meet Canadian brake system requirements, affecting braking performance. The 2009 model year has a tire and loading information label that omits the French-language notation for no spare tire, a compliance issue that the filing itself notes does not affect vehicle safety.
