The 2003 Dodge Viper has 6 recalls, the most serious being airbags and seatbelt pretensioners that can deploy without warning while driving, startling the driver and raising the risk of a crash. A separate fuel system concern affects the fuel pump wiring, which can chafe against the edge of an underbody heat shield and cause the fuel pump fuse to blow, stalling the engine while in motion. There is also a lighting issue: corrosion can build up on the multifunction switch contacts and cause the parking lights, headlights, and instrument panel lights to flicker or go dark, reducing visibility at night.
