7 recalls across 18 model years
The Ferrari LaFerrari has 7 recalls covering 2013 through 2017 model years, with the most serious being a brake system defect on 2013-2015 vehicles where brake function can be lost entirely, raising the risk of a crash.
The 2017 model year, sold as the Aperta, has a fuel vapor separator that can crack and leak fuel. If that fuel contacts an ignition source, it can start a fire.
The 2015 model year has a driver's airbag module that may have been assembled in a rotated orientation. In a crash, the bag deploys at the wrong angle and raises the risk of injury to the driver. The 2014-2015 model years share a head restraint issue: the passenger seat headrest, and optionally the driver seat headrest on vehicles equipped with L32 seats, does not absorb enough energy in a crash to meet safety standards, increasing the risk of injury to the occupant.
The 2014-2015 model years also have a tire pressure monitoring system that displays the wrong warning message when a tire is punctured. Instead of telling the driver not to proceed, the system shows a message suggesting a 50 mph speed limit is acceptable, which can lead the driver to continue on a punctured tire and lose control of the vehicle.
