1978 FORD CLUB WAGON Recalls — Canada & USA

The 1978 Ford Club Wagon has two recalls, the more serious being a steering tie rod end where the adjusting sleeve clamp can break and allow the sleeve to separate, causing sudden and complete loss of steering control with no warning. The second recall applies to 12-passenger versions: the rear door windows were fitted with tempered glass rather than the required laminated glass. In a crash, tempered glass shatters into small fragments rather than holding together, which can complicate emergency exit and raises the risk of injury to occupants.
