The 2000 Ford Crown Victoria has 3 recalls, the most serious involving a loose airbag crash sensor that can delay airbag deployment in a collision, and a left rear seatbelt retractor that may not hold an occupant during a crash.
The airbag sensor module may not be securely fastened, meaning the signal that triggers deployment can arrive late when it matters most. The rear seatbelt concern is separate: the left rear retractor's mounting bolts may not be properly tightened, and if the belt anchor shifts or pulls free in a crash, the passenger in that seat loses the restraint protection the belt is meant to provide. On the visibility side, the windshield wiper control module can fail to handle the electrical load of clearing ice, snow, or heavy debris, causing the wipers to stop working without any warning to the driver.
