What can fail
The rubber-coated ball joint connecting the steering drag link and pitman arm can wear down during tight low-speed turns under heavy load, causing the ball stud to damage the socket. This can eventually cause the drag link to separate from the pitman arm, resulting in loss of steering control.
What the fix does
The drag link assembly will be replaced with one that has a steel ball and socket joint instead of a rubber-coated one.
