What can fail

On 1984 models, cracks may form in the engine cylinder heads, allowing oil to leak onto the exhaust manifold. On 1985 models, the rocker cover gasket may split and leak oil onto the exhaust manifold. Leaking oil can ignite and cause an underhood fire.

What the fix does

On 1984 models, cylinder heads will be inspected and replaced if cracked. On 1985 models, rocker cover gaskets will be inspected and replaced unless they are a later design.
