What can fail
On certain sport utility vehicles with high back seats, the upper bolt that connects the driver's seat recliner mechanism to the seat back frame can fracture. If it breaks, the seat back may recline unexpectedly and strike objects behind it, like the second row seat.
What the fix does
The dealer will replace the driver seat upper bolt with a metal spacer and bolt. Seats with tubular back frames will also get the lower recliner bolt replaced with a partially threaded bolt.
