Ford F-550 Chassis Cab Recalls

The Ford F-550 Chassis Cab has 4 recalls spanning 2005 through 2020, with the most serious being a high-pressure fuel pump failure on 2020 models equipped with the 6.7L diesel engine that can cause sudden loss of engine power while driving, raising the risk of a crash.

The 2005 model year has a separate steering concern where an incorrectly assembled component inside the steering gear can allow the internal recirculating balls to escape during steering, which can lead to loss of steering control. On 2017 models, two recalls address compliance issues: a driver seat with a manual recline mechanism may have an incorrectly welded recliner-to-seat-back joint that causes the seat to fail strength requirements, meaning it may not properly restrain the occupant in a crash; and certain decorative chrome door handle covers sold as dealer accessories can interfere with the door handle mechanism to the point where the door may not hold closed under a hard impact load.
