What can fail
A snap ring that holds the park gear on the transmission output shaft may fracture, allowing the park gear to slide backward. This prevents park gear engagement and could allow the vehicle to move even when the gear selector is in park.
What the fix does
The snap ring will be replaced with an improved version. A revised transmission extension housing with a cast stop will be installed to limit park gear movement if a snap ring fractures.
