The 2002 Ford Taurus has 3 recalls, the most serious affecting vehicles with adjustable pedals, where the brake and accelerator pedals sit close enough together that pressing both at once can cause the engine to rev and the vehicle to resist stopping.
The windshield on certain vehicles is not properly bonded and can develop wind noise, water leaks, or rattles, and in a crash the windshield may not stay in place, reducing protection for occupants. There is also a brake light switch that can fail in two ways: it can keep the brake lights on constantly, confusing drivers behind the vehicle, or it can fail to illuminate the brake lights at all when the pedal is pressed, removing the warning signal to following traffic and also preventing the driver from shifting out of Park.
