What can fail
In very cold weather (below -20°C), ice can form in the crankcase ventilation system. This pressurizes the crankcase and forces oil out past the rocker cover gasket onto the exhaust manifold, which may ignite.
What the fix does
Dealers will install a revised crankcase ventilation system heated by engine coolant to prevent ice formation.
