The 2015 Honda CBR500 has two recalls, the more serious involving the fuel level sensor, where a deteriorating float arm can cause an electrical short that raises the risk of fire.
The fuel sender float arm can deform over time from road and environmental exposure. If it breaks free from the sensor body, it may contact both electrical terminals inside the fuel tank, creating a short circuit. It can also simply give the fuel gauge inaccurate readings, leaving the rider unaware of how much fuel remains. The second recall involves the starter relay switch, where sealant applied during assembly may have been misapplied and can cause a loss of electrical power. If that happens, the engine can stall without warning while riding.
