The 2016 Honda Civic has 5 recalls, the most serious being an engine defect on 2.0L models where a missing or improperly installed piston pin can cause the engine to seize while driving, raising the risk of a crash. This recall applies only to 2.0L-equipped vehicles. A second concern affects both 1.5L turbo and 2.0L models: the electronic parking brake may fail to engage if applied immediately after shutting off the ignition, leaving the vehicle free to roll. On two-door models, a damaged LED circuit board inside the taillight assembly can knock out the rear side marker light, making the car harder for other drivers to see in low-visibility conditions.
