The 2013 Honda Pilot has 5 recalls, the most serious being a passenger-side airbag inflator that can explode and send metal fragments into the cabin, posing a risk of serious injury or death.
The airbag concerns extend further. A separate issue involves the passenger-side inflator being incorrectly installed, which can prevent the airbag from deploying properly in a crash, leaving the front passenger without full protection. There is also a driver's airbag concern: one or more rivets attaching the airbag module to its cover may be missing, which can alter how the airbag deploys and raise the risk of injury in a crash.
