The 2017 Honda Pilot has 7 recalls, the most serious including a fuel pump that can fail without warning, cutting engine power while driving, and a hood latch striker that can break loose and let the hood fly open, blocking the driver's view.
Several recalls involve the engine and fuel delivery. Two separate fuel pump issues can cause the engine to run rough, fail to start, or stall while in motion. A connecting rod bearing inside the engine can also wear and seize, causing the engine to run poorly or stall and raising the risk of fire.
On the chassis side, rear suspension components including the rear control arm can corrode and fail on vehicles sold in certain northern and mid-Atlantic states, causing a loss of handling and control. There is also a passenger airbag concern: the front passenger seat sensor can misread the occupant and cause the airbag to deploy incorrectly in a crash, raising the risk of injury.
