The 2007 Hyundai Elantra has 3 recalls, the most serious being a moisture-related electrical short in the ABS module that can cause an engine compartment fire even when the vehicle is parked and turned off.
Two recalls involve the airbag system. The passenger seat weight sensor, which is designed to deactivate the front passenger airbag for lighter occupants, can malfunction and allow the airbag to deploy in crashes where it should stay off, raising the risk of injury to the passenger. On the driver's side, a seat track position sensor that adjusts airbag deployment force based on how far forward the seat is set can fail to register the correct position, causing the airbag to deploy at higher pressure than intended in a crash.
