The 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz has 4 recalls, the most serious involving two separate fire risks: a tow hitch wiring harness that can ignite while the vehicle is parked or in motion, and an oil supply pipe to the turbocharger that can crack and leak oil onto hot engine components.
On the drivetrain side, a transmission oil pump malfunction can disable the vehicle's limited-mobility failsafe mode, cutting drive power entirely rather than allowing the vehicle to limp to safety, which raises the risk of a crash. There is also a structural concern: roof molding strips can detach while driving and become a road hazard for other vehicles.
