The 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe has two recalls, the more serious being a front coil spring that can corrode and fracture, puncturing a tire and raising the risk of a crash.
This recall applies to vehicles registered or originally sold in certain salt-belt states where road salt accelerates corrosion. The second recall is limited to vehicles with the 3.5-liter V6 engine, four-wheel drive, and anti-lock brakes: when the brakes are applied at low speeds while the brake pads are wet, vibration between the rotors and pads can interfere with the ABS sensors, causing the system to extend stopping distances.
