The 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe has 3 recalls, the most serious being an ABS module that can develop an electrical short and start an engine compartment fire while the vehicle is parked or in motion.
A separate hood latch concern involves a corroding secondary latch cable that can bind and leave the secondary latch disengaged. If the primary latch is then accidentally released, the hood can fly open while driving and block the driver's view. There is also a seatbelt warning issue on vehicles built between September 2015 and February 2016, where wiring in the front seatbelt buckle harnesses can be damaged by the seat height adjuster, silencing the chime that reminds occupants to buckle up.
