The 1990 Hyundai Sonata has two recalls, both rated equally serious: one where the hood can fly open while driving and block the driver's view, and one where a fuel leak in the engine compartment can lead to a fire.
The hood concern involves the secondary latch's safety catch, which can bind and fail to hold the hood down if the primary latch is released or the hood is not fully closed. On the fuel side, a spring clamp on the coolant bypass hose can rub against and wear through the fuel supply hose, allowing fuel to escape into a hot engine compartment.
