Infiniti Fx45 Recalls

The Infiniti FX45 has 11 recalls spanning the 2003–2009 model years, with the most serious being a passenger-side frontal airbag inflator defect on 2003–2008 models where the inflator can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.

The airbag issue is the dominant concern across this model's recall history and appears in several overlapping filings covering different year ranges and geographic scopes. On 2003–2005 models, the passenger airbag inflator can rupture during deployment due to propellant degradation, particularly in vehicles that have spent time in high-humidity regions such as Florida, Hawaii, and similar climates. The 2005 model year has a separate but related filing where temperature cycling and humidity exposure can cause the airbag to deploy with greater force than intended. On 2006–2008 models, a prior airbag replacement performed under an earlier recall introduced a new problem: the replacement airbag cushion was folded incorrectly, which can cause it to tear during deployment and reduce its ability to protect the occupant.

The 2009 model year has a steering column recall where the column shaft can develop excessive play or separate entirely, leaving the driver with reduced or no steering control.

On 2003 models, a fuel filler hose can crack from ozone exposure, allowing fuel to leak during refueling and creating a fire risk near an ignition source. Also on 2003 models, the front brake caliper mounting bolts may not have been tightened to the correct torque, allowing the upper bolt to fall out, the caliper to rotate, and contact the inside of the wheel, producing noise and vibration. A headlamp compliance issue also affects 2003 models in Canada, where the headlight vertical light distribution does not meet the required standard.
