The 2015 Jeep Cherokee has 9 recalls, the most serious being a fire risk from the power liftgate control module, where water intrusion or corrosion can cause an electrical short that starts a fire whether the vehicle is parked or running. On vehicles equipped with the optional power liftgate, prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue, and the fire risk persists across multiple rounds of affected production dates. A separate fire risk affects certain vehicles where an air conditioning line runs too close to the exhaust manifold, causing the hose to overheat, produce smoke, and potentially ignite. On the airbag side, side curtain and seat airbags can deploy without warning during normal driving, raising the risk of injury and loss of vehicle control. There is also a drivetrain concern on vehicles with a two-speed all-wheel-drive transfer unit: the system can lose drive power without warning, and the park function may fail to hold the vehicle stationary, creating a rollaway risk. Rounding out the list, seat fasteners on first- or second-row seats may not have been tightened properly, allowing seats to shift in a crash.
