The 2026 Jeep Cherokee has 3 recalls, the most serious being a brake system control module that can fail and knock out both anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control, leaving the vehicle more vulnerable to skidding or losing directional control during hard stops.

When anti-lock brakes stop working, the wheels can lock up during emergency braking and the driver loses the ability to steer around obstacles. Without electronic stability control, the vehicle is more likely to spin or slide when cornering on slippery surfaces. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve this issue, which is why more than one recall addresses it. The third recall covers a trailer towing module that can fail and cut power to trailer brake lights and turn signals, making the trailer invisible to following drivers during braking or lane changes, while also disabling the trailer's own brakes and extending stopping distances for the combined vehicle.
