9 recalls across 6 model years
The Jeep Grand Cherokee L has 9 recalls covering 2021 through 2025 model years, with the most serious being loose radiator crossmember bolts on 2024 models that can cause airbags to deploy incorrectly and allow fuel to leak during a crash, raising the risk of fire and injury.
The 2023-2025 model years have a software error in the occupant restraint controller that can delay side airbag deployment in a crash. Separately on the airbag front, 2021-2024 models have a front seat side airbag connector that can come loose and prevent those airbags from deploying at all. The 2023-2024 model years also have second-row head restraints that may not lock in the upright position, reducing neck protection in a crash.
The 2024 model year has two additional software-related issues: the rearview camera can fail to display an image when backing up, and the speedometer can show the wrong speed, leaving the driver unaware of how fast the vehicle is actually traveling.
Going back to 2021-2023 production, rear coil springs can be incorrectly installed and detach from the vehicle while driving, creating a road hazard and raising crash risk. On 2023 models, the blower motor can fail and disable the windshield defrost and defog system, reducing forward visibility in cold or humid conditions. The 2021-2022 model years have a touchscreen display transistor that can overheat and cause the rearview camera image to go dark while backing up.
