The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L has 5 recalls, the most serious involving rear coil springs that may not be properly secured and can detach from the vehicle while driving, raising the risk of a crash.
Two recalls cover side airbags: a software error in the restraint control module can delay side airbag deployment in a crash, and a loose connector on the front seat side airbags can prevent them from deploying at all. There is also a second-row head restraint issue where the restraints may not lock in the upright position, reducing protection to rear seat occupants in a collision. On the visibility side, the blower motor can fail and leave the windshield defroster and defogger inoperative, cutting the driver's ability to clear the glass in cold or humid conditions.
