20 recalls across 10 model years
The Land Rover Discovery Sport has 20 recalls spanning 2015 through 2025, with the most serious recent issue affecting 2024 models where a lower A-pillar bolt on the right side may be improperly fastened, reducing the body structure's ability to protect occupants in a crash.
On the 2024 model year, a separate recall covers the surround camera system, where an overheating sensor module can cause the rearview camera image to stop displaying while backing up. The 2025 model year has a moisture-related issue in the gear shift module that can cause the gear position indicator to go dark, making it harder to confirm which gear the transmission is in.
On 2022-2023 models, the front seat belt pretensioners may be damaged and fail to tighten the belts during a crash, leaving occupants less restrained. The 2023 model year also has a touchscreen that can go blank at startup, taking the rearview camera image with it. Going back to 2020-2021 models, the rear seat belt retractors can deactivate too early and fail to lock a child safety seat securely. The 2020 mild-hybrid models have a separate electrical concern: the 48-volt system can overload and cause the DC-DC converter to short-circuit, creating a fire risk and a loss of drive power. A software error on 2020 models can also cause the speedometer and odometer to randomly switch between miles per hour and kilometers per hour without driver input.
The 2018 model year has a fuel rail end cap that can fail to seal, allowing fuel vapor or liquid fuel to leak into the engine bay where hot components can ignite it. On 2017 models, the front lower control arm ball joints can fail and allow the steering knuckle to separate from the control arm, causing a sudden loss of vehicle control. The 2016-2017 model years share a related suspension fastener issue where the knuckle-to-control-arm connection can fail with the same result. The 2017 model year also has front seat belt pretensioners that may not fire properly in a crash.
The 2015 model year carries several issues: the transmission wire harness can be improperly crimped and cause an unexpected shift to neutral, cutting drive power; the power steering gear assist motor bolts can corrode and fracture on vehicles registered in heavy salt-use regions, affecting steering; and the 2015-2016 models have a license plate lamp that can fall out, leaving the plate unlit at night.
