Summary
The Land Rover Discovery Sport has 9 recalls spanning 2015 through 2024, with the most serious recent issue affecting 2024 models where a loose lower A-pillar bolt on the right side reduces the structural strength of the body, potentially leaving occupants less protected in a crash.
The 2024 model is the only recent production year with a recall, and it centers on that body structure concern. Looking back at 2020, a voltage converter can short circuit due to electrical overload, generating heat and smoke and creating a fire risk, with the battery warning light appearing on the dashboard as the first sign. On 2018 models, the fuel rail end caps on the 2.0L gasoline engine can fail to seal properly, allowing fuel vapor or liquid fuel to leak into the engine bay where hot engine or exhaust components can ignite it. The 2017 model year has a front lower control arm ball joint that can fail, causing the steering knuckle to separate from the control arm and making the vehicle difficult to control. On 2015 models, improperly crimped transmission wiring connections can cause an unexpected shift into neutral, cutting drive power at an inopportune moment. Also on 2015 models registered in heavy road salt regions of Canada, the bolts securing the power steering gear assist motor can corrode and fracture, which affects steering assist. Rounding out the 2015 and 2015-2016 production years, the license plate lamp housing can fall out, leaving the plate unlit at night.
