The 2021 Land Rover Range Rover has 6 recalls, the most serious being fire risks from two separate engine issues: coolant leaking onto a hot turbocharger shield on PHEV models, and an engine oil leak that can ignite near heat sources.
On the electrical side, the mild-hybrid system's DC-DC converter can fail and cut drive power without warning, raising the risk of a crash. Rear seat belt retractors can also deactivate too early, preventing a child safety seat from locking in place and leaving it unsecured in a crash. The rearview camera can allow water inside, causing the image to drop out or appear distorted while reversing, reducing what the driver can see behind the vehicle. PHEV models carry one additional issue: the pedestrian alert system may not produce enough sound when the vehicle is stationary in reverse, making it harder for people on foot to detect the vehicle's presence.
