The Lexus ES350 has 10 recalls spanning the 2007 to 2020 model years, with the most serious recent issue being a fuel pump defect on 2018-2020 models where the pump can fail while driving, cutting engine power and stalling the vehicle in traffic.

The 2018-2020 fuel pump recall covers a broad range of conditions and can leave the vehicle without power unexpectedly. On 2017 models, a tie rod lock nut on the right-hand side steering linkage can loosen over time until the tie rod separates entirely, leaving the driver with no steering control. The 2016 model year has an electronic stability control issue where the brake system cannot build sufficient fluid pressure, reducing the vehicle's ability to respond in an emergency and raising the risk of a crash.

The 2013-2015 models equipped with the optional Pre-Collision System can apply the brakes unexpectedly without a real obstacle present, which can surprise following drivers and cause a rear-end collision.

Going back further, 2007-2012 models are covered by multiple recalls involving the Takata passenger-side airbag inflator. These inflators can rupture during deployment, sending metal fragments into the cabin and striking occupants. Several of these recalls are scoped to vehicles registered in high-humidity regions such as Florida, Hawaii, and Gulf Coast states, where moisture accelerates the degradation that leads to rupture, though some filings cover the full national fleet. Prior repair attempts on this defect did not fully resolve the issue across all affected vehicles, which is why multiple campaigns were filed over several years covering overlapping model year ranges within the 2007-2012 window.
