LEXUS IS 350 Recalls

The Lexus IS 350 has 5 recalls covering 2006–2011 model years, with the most serious being a variable valve timing gear assembly defect on 2006–2011 vehicles where bolts securing the VVT housing and sprocket can loosen, causing the engine to stall without warning while driving. The 2006 model year carries the heaviest recall load across multiple systems. On the engine side, 2006 models also have valve springs that can degrade and fracture internally, producing rough running and, in the worst case, sudden engine failure while in motion. A separate 2006 fuel system recall involves particles from the anti-corrosion plating inside the fuel delivery pipes that can compromise the seal at the fuel pressure sensor, allowing fuel to leak in the engine compartment. Rounding out the 2006-specific issues, wiper arm securing nuts that were undertightened during assembly can allow the arms to slip if the wipers encounter resistance from heavy snow or ice, leaving one or both wipers unable to sweep the windshield.
