The airbag inflator issue spans multiple recalls that all describe the same defect: the passenger-side inflator can explode or rupture, throwing metal fragments toward anyone in the front seat. Some of these filings were targeted at vehicles in high-humidity states and territories like Florida, Hawaii, and Louisiana, where moisture accelerates the deterioration that makes the inflator unstable, though the underlying hazard is the same across all filings. On the engine side, loose bolts in the variable valve timing system can allow the gear housing and sprocket to separate, causing the engine to stall without warning while driving and raising the risk of a crash. There is also a fuel system concern: the rubber diaphragms inside the fuel pulsation dampers can harden and crack over time, allowing gasoline to leak near components that could ignite it.
