10 recalls across 9 model years
The Lexus LS has 10 recalls spanning 2007 through 2025, with the most serious being a fuel pump failure on 2018–2019 models that can cause the engine to stall without warning while driving, raising the risk of a crash. The 2019 model year also has a separate brake booster pump defect where the pump can fail, deactivating the stability control system and reducing braking assist at the same time.
On the occupant safety side, 2018–2021 LS 500 and 2018–2020 LS 500 Hybrid vehicles equipped with the Executive Package have a front passenger seat assembly issue where internal interference causes the passenger classification sensor to misread the occupant, which can result in the airbag deploying incorrectly in a crash. The 2018 model year has an additional issue with run-flat tires where the sidewall reinforcement layer can crack during assembly, leading to tread separation and a sudden loss of handling stability.
The 2021–2022 LS 500h has a software error in the stability control module that can deactivate the system without the driver's knowledge, reducing the vehicle's ability to recover from a skid. More recent production covers two rearview camera issues: on 2023 models, the Panoramic View Monitor can fail to display an image when reversing, and on 2023–2025 models a software fault can cause the same camera system to freeze or go blank in reverse. On 2024–2025 models, the instrument panel display can fail to show critical driving information.
Going back to earlier production, 2007 LS models with aluminum fuel rails can develop internal corrosion when exposed to low-moisture ethanol fuel, eventually forming a pinhole leak that can ignite near a heat source and cause an engine compartment fire.
