LEXUS LS Recalls

The Lexus LS has 3 recalls spanning 2007 to 2021, with the most serious being a fuel rail corrosion issue on 2007 models where ethanol fuel can eat through the aluminum fuel delivery pipe, create a pinhole leak, and start an engine fire. The two remaining recalls both affect more recent production. On 2018-2021 LS500 and 2018-2020 LS500 Hybrid vehicles built with the Executive Package, an internal assembly interference in the front passenger seat can cause the passenger occupant classification sensor to misread who is sitting there, leading to incorrect airbag deployment in a crash. The 2018 model year also has a separate issue on run-flat tire equipped vehicles, where the tire reinforcement layer inside the sidewall can crack during assembly and eventually cause the tread to separate from the tire while driving, reducing handling and stability.
