The Lexus IS F has 7 recalls covering the 2008–2014 production run, with the most serious being a passenger-side airbag inflator defect on 2008–2014 models where the inflator can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.

All seven recalls share the same severity rating, and the airbag inflator issue accounts for the majority of them. Vehicles originally sold or ever registered in high-humidity states and territories — including Florida, Texas, California, Hawaii, and several Gulf Coast states — face the greatest risk, as prolonged heat and humidity degrade the inflator propellant over time. The 2008–2014 model years are covered across multiple recall campaigns that expanded geographic and model-year scope as the issue was more broadly identified. Earlier filings focused on 2008–2011 models, with subsequent campaigns extending coverage through 2012, 2013, and finally 2014. A separate but related filing covers 2009 models specifically, where the same humidity-driven propellant degradation can cause the airbag to deploy with more force than intended even without a rupture.

The 2014 model year also has a fuel pump recall: the pump impeller can deform and cause the engine to stall while driving, raising the risk of a crash.
