2012 Lexus Is F

The 2012 Lexus IS F has 3 recalls, all involving the front passenger airbag inflator, which can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.

All three recalls address the same defect in the passenger-side frontal airbag inflator. When the airbag deploys, the inflator can explode rather than inflate the bag normally, scattering sharp metal fragments toward the driver and passengers. These recalls apply to vehicles sold or ever registered in high-humidity states and territories including Florida, Texas, Hawaii, and several others, as prolonged exposure to heat and moisture accelerates deterioration of the inflator. Prior repair attempts under earlier campaigns did not fully resolve the issue for all affected vehicles, which is why multiple filings exist for this model year.
